Parents tell of need for autism coverage

Welcome to the Jean Ann Guliano for Lieutenant Governor website.

I want to tell you why I am running for Lieutenant Governor.

My passion is education, both as a mom and as a citizen. When I came to understand what the Moderate Party stood for, particularly on education, I wanted to be a part of it. I knew I could take my experience and knowledge of the issues and really use that to make a difference at the state level.

My experience on School Committee put me on the front lines. Literally. It’s my job to advocate for students, parents and taxpayers – and try to find that appropriate balance. We need to make sure that we provide children with the best education possible while respecting that taxpayers are footing the bill. People are willing to support education provided it’s effective and cost efficient. The types of reforms that Commissioner Gist and the Regents are implementing are nothing short of revolutionary – but yet they are so simple. How can one argue with having highly effective educators in every classroom?

My sons have been blessed with outstanding teachers – I want to make sure every child in the state has the same opportunity. Making sure we recruit, support, reward and retain excellent teachers. And be “capable stewards of the taxpayers’ investment.” It makes sense. That’s why it’s resonating with parents and citizens all over the state. And with teachers like the ones in Providence who say, ‘yes, that’s what we want to see.’ Children, parents and taxpayers need a voice on education issues – that’s what I intend to be.

Explore the site. Email us questions. Get involved. With your help and support now and after November, we can make Rhode Island a better place.

Sincerely,

Jean Ann Guliano
